This Victorian Garden chair is a variant of today's more commonly recognized Adirondack Chair. We have taken the traditional adirondack chair and specifically made one for the most consummate garden lover or gardener.
The most noticeable difference between an Adirondack chair and Victoria Garden chair has more to do with the feel and finish. The Adirondack chair is usually left either unstained or painted white. For the Victoria Garden chair we have used a stained finish to accent with your garden.
In addition the more modern Adirondack chairs have curved seats – we left the garden chair seat flat specifically for that gardener that suffers with achy knees who may struggle to get out of a traditional adirondack chair.
Here are just a few more of the differences we have made to our Victorian Garden Chair:
The Victorian Garden chair is not a kit – it is shipped partially assembled with easy to assemble instructions and hardware for final assembly.
Folds & Locks in place so you can take it with you. Simply pull the pin and fold. Best of all you don't have to worry about it closing on you when you are getting in and out of the chair because it is locked in place.
The back is only slightly curved to support your spine while eliminating pressure points without being curved too much which would cause your shoulders to hunch forward straining your spine.
The seat is actually flat making it easier to get in and out of the chair for those who suffer with achy knees from hours of gardening.
The seat front curves down instead of a hard edge so there are NO pressure points behind the knees that cause painful leg cramps and pins and needles in the feet.
The screws do not show on the front – the slats are screwed from the back and underside of the garden chair to keep the front finish smooth.
Because all the screws are either under the chair or imbedded behind the chair they are not exposed directly to the elements meaning that the yellow zinc galvanized hardware will last even longer .
stronger than the traditional softwood Adirondack Chair to resist more denting so we made ours with a durable hardwood comparable to teak
The original adirondack chair was designed so that the seat sat level if you put it on a hill; the problem was if you put it on level ground the seat was nearly impossible to get out of because of the extreme incline. Our Victorian Garden chair has been modified so that you can gently recline on level ground giving you the benefit of lounging while making it possible so you can get out of the chair when you need to.
This adirondack style victorian garden chair is heavier than most traditional Adirondak chairs – this is due to the more dense hardwood over the light density of soft wood. The additional weight is an added bonus on decks where high winds can move or flip furniture.
Our garden chair is NOT pressure treated – meaning no toxic chemicals have been added to preserve the wood, the Shorea hardwood is naturally resistant and thus does not require preservatives.
Big wide level arms give you plenty of space for setting down your drink or favourite book.
This classic Victorian garden chair is solidly constructed of Shorea hardwood . Shorea (also called Philippine mahogany because of its density and color) shares similar characteristics of teak including being both a naturally rot resistant and insect resistant hardwood.
Shorea however is the perfect hardwood in that although it shares many similar characteristics with teak it has one very distinct advantage – Shorea can be stained or painted! And best of all our Shorea hardwood is FSC certified meaning it is a natural renewable resource specifically grown for lumber (preserving both old growth forests & wildlife).
Each piece of Shorea hardwood is kiln dried, cut, sanded, and then goes through an extensive staining and assembly process. We hand stain every piece making sure the stain goes on without drips, no bubbles, no blisters, no scratches, no peel, no overrunning at the edges and no surface roughness. Once dry each piece is then sanded to a very fine finish (240 grit abrasive) then cleaned and a second coat of stain is applied to assure a beautiful finish that lasts.
The hardware we use for this chair is weather resistant yellow zinc plated hardware . Once completed every piece is carefully inspected for quality and then well packed for damage free shipping.
Please note that due to the size of this garden chair it is shipped partially assembled with easy to follow assembly instructions that take approximately 30 minutes to complete. We do provide an Allen key for assembly but you will still need your own Philip screwdriver to complete the assembly.
This beautiful garden chair is available with a matching ottoman and end table for that perfect outdoor patio furniture set making it ideal for entertaining guests or just relaxing alone enjoying the finest in outdoor living.
